Over 2.15 billion people live close to the coast, of which 898 million are in low-lying areas. For these communities, the sea is central to their lives, work, culture, emotions, and spirituality. These letters offer a unique window into the challenges, ambitions, and needs of young people.
‘Letters to the Sea’ allows young ocean lovers from around the world to express their thoughts and feelings through letters. Written, designed, and illustrated by youth aged 3 to 22, these letters capture a diverse range of perspectives and experiences. Onewater and SOS then carefully select a representative sample to showcase at various international events.
‘Letters to the Sea’ highlights the unique perspectives of children and youth on the challenges facing coastal communities and their profound connection to the sea.
